Battersea Arts Centre announces new shows for its spring programme

Battersea Arts Centre has announced new shows for its spring programme, joining previously announced shows at the south London venue.
Award-winning Belgian company Ontroerend Goed will present the London premiere of World Without Us from 3 to 12 May. Performer Valentijn Dhaenens will lead audiences through a world in which humanity has disappeared.
From 3 to 7 April, Battersea Arts Centre will host its Homegrown Festival, featuring performances and live music from young voices from across the UK. With work from companies including BAC Beatbox Academy, 20 Stories High, Camden Youth Theatre and Providence House, the week aims to provide a platform for young performers, grappling with contemporary issues including racial tension.
Slam poetry champion Tom Gill will perform Growing Pains from 11 to 14 April, and collaborators Vic Llewellyn and Kid Carpet will present their piece entitled The Castle Builder from 23 to 25 April. Inspired by outsider artists who build gigantic structures in secret, The Castle Builder has been touring the country as part of the Collaborative Touring Network.
From 9 to 12 May, Richard Butchins' piece 213 Things About Me will be performed by Rosa Hoskins. The show is a darkly tragi-comic story about autism and social exclusion told from the perspective of a woman with Asperger's.
The North Wall and double Fringe First winner Iron Shoes will present their gig theatre show Fragment from 14 to 15 May, with original songs by Kneehigh associate Dom Coyote.
Kane Power, who won the inaugural Mental Health Fringe Award, will present Mental from 3 to 5 May, a piece about a son's relationship with his mother, and the state of her mental health. Sleepwalk Collective will return to Battersea Arts Centre with Domestica, a deadpan dismantling of high art, from 23 to 26 May.
Yomi Sode will present COAT, a show discussing immigration and generational identity, from 26 to 28 April, while Francesca Beard will create a world sidling between fact and fiction in How to Survive a Post-Truth Apocalypse from 17 to 19 May.
