The Old Vic has announced an opportunity for twelve emerging artists to be part of Matthew Warchus‘ first season at the theatre as part of their Old Vic 12 scheme.

Following a launch programme including a rigorous selection process, The Old Vic will select three emerging directors, three writers, three producers, one designer, one composer and one choreographer.

Throughout the year, the 12 artists will gain paid experience in the theatre and will be encouraged to share their learnings through a series of 12 masterclasses aimed at artists at the beginning of their careers.

The selection panel will comprise of high profile, industry experts in each field with final selections made by Warchus and his team. To mark the end of the programme, three new pieces of work will be created and then presented by the participants.

Warchus' first season kicks off in September with the new play Future Conditional, starring Rob Brydon. Further productions include The Hairy Ape, The Master Builder, starring Ralph Fiennes, The Caretaker, starring Timothy Spall and a new musical adaptation of the film Groundhog Day, with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin.
