Lloyd Webber to bring Joseph back for 50th year?

Andrew Lloyd Webber has hinted at bringing Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat back to the West End for a 50th anniversary celebration.

The first performance of the musical came in 1968, when it was performed as a 15-minute cantana at Colet Court School in London.

Since then, the show has gone on to massive success over the pond, with Webber claiming it is his most successful musical in the US. Webber and lyricist Tim Rice went on to create classics such as Jesus Christ Superstar and Evita.

Talking to The Stage, Andrew recalled realising that it was 50 years since the pair met.

"It means that Joseph, too, is nearly 50 years old, so we're wondering if we should be doing something about it."

Lloyd Webber is currently gearing up for the premiere of his take on the 2003 film School of Rock on Broadway, and has just featured in a video showcasing Beverley Knight's rehearsal as Grizabella in Cats.
