Bill Kenwright earmarks Sound of Music and Fame for West End?

Kenwright’s production company is reportedly planning a raft of West End productions in 2014

Bill Kenwright Limited is reportedly planning an ambitious series of ten West End transfers next year, including Fame and The Sound of Music.

BKL producer Jeremy Meadow told The Stage that the company is also looking to secure West End transfers of plays including Let the Right One In, which opens at the Royal Court in December, and Foxfinder, which premiered at the Finborough Theatre in 2011.

Other shows on BKL's West End radar include the touring productions of French farce Chin-Chin starring Simon Callow and Felicity Kendal, Michael Morpurgo's The Butterfly Lion, and revivals of David Mamet's Oleanna and JB Priestley's Dangerous Corner.

Fame is launching a UK tour next year, while The Sound of Music broke box office records at the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre this summer. Both are being earmarked for the West End, according to The Stage, while Evita starring Marti Pellow and Madalena Alberto may also transfer. There are also hopes that Cabaret starring WhatsOnStage Award-winner Will Young could return.

Meadow told The Stage that the productions, which will follow in the wake of BKL's forthcoming West End production of Twelve Angry Men, do not yet have "definite houses".
