Live Cinema Screening For Paris Opera Ballet Programme

The Paris Opera Ballet’s Diaghilev mixed bill is to be screened live from the Paris Opera House to some 50 cinemas in Belgium, Switzerland, France and the UK on 22 December.

The programme is the Parisian’s tribute to Serge Diaghilev whose Ballets Russes transformed dance at the beginning of the twentieth century. It features Le Spectre de la rose and Petrushka from 1911, L’Apres‐midi d’un faune from 1912, and Le Tricorne from 1919. It will be performed by dancers of the Paris Opera Ballet with musical direction by Vello Pähn.

The event brings ballets previously unseen outside major opera houses into local cinemas. It is the result of collaboration between the Paris Opera Ballet and digital distributors across Europe, including CielEcran, Warner Bros, Pictures UK and Pathé Productions. The full list of cinemas where the programme will be screened will be announced shortly.
