The production, which was shrouded in mystery when tickets first went on sale, will also feature in the cast Cory English and Jonathan Slinger. It runs from 11 March to 3 May 2014 (previews from 22 February).
Written by Mark Hollmann and Greg Kotis, Urinetown is set in a Gotham-like city of the future, where a hero leads the people in an uprising against private toilets.
WhatsOnStage Award-winner Richard Fleeshman, who will play Bobby Strong, starred in Ghost the Musical in the West End and on Broadway. His other stage credits include Legally Blonde. He rose to fame starring in Coronation Street and other TV credits include All the Small Things.
Jenna Russell (Penelope Pennywise) was most recently seen on stage in the Menier's production of Merrily We Roll Along. Her other theatre credits include Sunday in the Park with George, Into the Woods and Guys and Dolls. Cory English has Broadway credits including Young Frankenstein, Hello Dolly, and he has appeared in the West End in The Producers, Guys and Dolls and Chicago.
Jonathan Slinger, who will play Officer Lockstock, is best known for his work with the Royal Shakespeare Company, having appeared in almost 20 productions. Most recently, he played Hamlet in Stratford-upon-Avon. His other credits include Yes, Prime Minister (West End), Unclde Vanya (Young Vic) and Power (National Theatre).
The rest of the cast includes Katie Bernstein (Little Becky Two Shoes/Mrs Millennium), Madeleine Harland (Soupy Sue/Cladwell's Secretary), Rosanna Hyland (Hope Cladwell), Julie Jupp (Old Woman/Josephine Strong), Mark Meadows (Senator Fipp), Joel Montague (Male Swing 1), Jo Napthine (Female Swing 2) and Matthew Seadon-Young (Robbie The Stockfish/UGC Executive 1).
The role of Caldwell B. Cladwell and further casting will be announced shortly. Urinetown features designs from Soutra Gilmour, with choreography by Ann Yee and lighting from Adam Silverman.
