Above The Stag theatre relocates to Vauxhall

Gay fringe venue Above the Stag is re-opening in a renovated railway arch in Vauxhall next month.

The theatre, which was formerly situated in Victoria, was forced to relocate in March 2012 when The Stag pub was bulldozed as part of development work in the area.

Above The Stag staged its annual adult pantomime at the Landor Theatre last year, and will reopen its new venue with this year's offering Jack Off The Beanstalk.

Artistic director Peter Bull said: "Having been resident in someone else’s premises we’re delighted to be able to control our audience’s entire experience from how we welcome them as they cross the threshold, to how they are served at the bar and of course what they see on our stage, with a year round programme of dramas, comedies, musicals and pantomime."

Jack Off the Beanstalk, which is written by Jon Bradfield and Martin Hooper, begins performances on 29 November 2013, ahead of its official opening on 4 December.

The new venue is located at Arch 17 on Miles Street, SW8.
