MacMillan Symposium Programme Confirmed

The full programme of the Kenneth MacMillan Symposium on 8 November has been confirmed. The British choreographer would have been 80 this December had he lived, and a number of performances, exhibitions and events have been organized to mark the anniversary.

Dance goers will find much of interest in the day-long event, especially the contribution of dancers who worked with the choreographer in his early career. These include Donald MacLeary,  Lynn Seymour, Monica Mason,  Michael Boulton,  Marion Tait and Anya Linden.

Birgit Keil (now Artistic Director, Baden State Theatre Ballet) Vladimir Klos (now Director, Mannheim Academy of Dance) and Wayne Eagling (director, English National Ballet) will also be present, as will Viviana Durante, Michael Nunn, and Stephen Wicks, on whom MacMillan created his last ballet The Judas Tree.

Other colleagues and collaborators contributing to the symposium include Nicholas Hytner (Artistic Director,  Royal National Theatre), actress and writer Nichola McAuliffe, Judas Tree composer Brian Elias, conductor Martin Yates, and Henry Roche, Head of Music Staff, Royal Ballet.

The Symposium will be moderated by the broadcaster Natalie Wheen.
