Digital Theatre announces partnership with the Royal Opera House

Digital Theatre, which records and releases shows to view online, has announced the release of six productions from the Royal Opera House.
According to press material, the move "marks the start of a significant new partnership with the Royal Opera House, making their world-class productions available at the touch of a button for the very first time. "
Audiences will be able to watch productions including Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro, Verdi's La traviata and Puccini's La boheme online via Digital Theatre platforms including apps for Samsung Smart TV, iPhone and iPad.
Also available as part of the Royal Opera House Collection are Royal Ballet productions including Sylvia starring Darcey Bussell and Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake.
Digital Theatre CEO Robert Delamere said: “It is a privilege to make work of the calibre and talent presented every night at the Royal Opera House available to audiences around the world at the touch of a button. Through curating work of this quality, Digital Theatre is excited to establish itself as a global arts platform in which geography is no longer a barrier to experiencing the performing arts.”
Alastair Roberts of the Royal Opera House added: “This is an exciting new partnership for us, making our productions available across the widest possible variety of digital platforms. It adds to the variety of ways in which people can see our work, outside of the auditorium itself, such as our BP Big Screens and ROH Live Cinema Season, and our work on TV and DVD, enabling audiences to access our performances wherever they are in the world and whenever they want.”
