Hampstead Theatre has extended its upcoming production of Theresa Rebeck's Seminar by two weeks until 1 November 2014.

The play sees four aspiring young writers seek wisdom at the feet of the caustic Leonard – once a celebrated novelist, now a cantankerous editor, teacher and grandstanding chronicler of third-world war zones.

Under Leonard's brilliant but brutally unorthodox tuition, competition for his approval is intense and the students clash.

As previously announced, Terry Johnson's production will star Roger Allam as Leonard.

He'll be joined in the cast by Bryan Dick, Rebecca Grant, Oliver Hembrough and Charity Wakefield, who was recently seen at Hampstead in The Blackest Black.

Seminar premiered on Broadway from November 2011 to May 2012, where Leonard was played by Alan Rickman and subsequently Jeff Goldblum.

It opens at Hampstead on 1 October (previews from 25 September).
