Helen Mirren is set to reprise her WhatsOnStage Award-winning performance as Queen Elizabeth II in The Audience when it transfers to Broadway next year, according to the Daily Mail.

The show will reportedly begin rehearsals in January 2015, with previews in February and an opening night in March.

Peter Morgan's play, which originally ran at the Gielgud Theatre last year, imagines a series of pivotal meetings between various prime ministers and the Queen.

It will open at one of Broadway's Shubert Theatres, and Helen Mirren told Baz Bamigboye that it would run for six months in New York 'for her sins'.

Mirren is no stranger to playing the monarch, having starred in the 2006 film The Queen, also written by Peter Morgan, which garnered her an Academy Award.
