Lloyd Webber's Cats prowl to the big screen?

With a West End revival of the classic musical imminent, Andrew Lloyd Webber could be plotting a new movie version

Following Monday's launch of the Cats West End revival, opening in December at the London Palladium, it's rumoured that Andrew Lloyd Webber could be finally planning a film adaptation of the hit show.

When asked, Lloyd Webber said: "There is considerable talk at last about Cats being made into a movie so it gives me a chance to think about the material and how that can happen."

The only current available film of Cats is a 1998 recording of the stage production, starring original cast member Elaine Paige. So, once it completes its 12-week run at the London Palladium, Cats could well be following in the paw-steps of the likes of Mamma Mia! and Les Miserables.
