The BAFTA-winning comedienne will be joined in the cast by Matthew Kelly as Widow Twanky, Oliver Thornton as Aladdin and David Bedella as Abanazar.

Street dancers Flawless, who found fame on Britain’s Got Talent, will play the Peking Police Force.

Aladdin runs at the New Wimbledon from 6 December 2013 to 12 January 2014.

Brand said of the role, which marks her panto debut: “I’m very much looking forward to doing my first panto, although I would have preferred Cinderella because I realise that I am a role model for many glamorous young women.”

Kevin Wood of producers First Family Entertainment added: “We are delighted to welcome Jo Brand to the list of stars that have made their pantomime debut at Wimbledon. With this stellar cast, Aladdin is sure to be our best show yet.”
