ROH's Wind in the Willows returns to West End this Christmas

The production will play an eight week run at the Vaudeville Theatre

The Royal Opera House production of The Wind in the Willows is returning to the West End this Christmas.

Will Tuckett's Olivier Award-winning production will play an eight week season at the Vaudeville Theatre from 26 November 2014.

Based on Kenneth Grahame's classic book, the adventures of four woodland friends are retold through dance, song, music and puppetry.

The escapades of the hot-headed Toad, debonair Ratty, shy Mole and wise Badger are brought to life in a production that draws inspiration from the music of Edwardian composer George Butterworth. The action is set to a score by Martin Ward.

The Wind in the Willows' transfer to the Duchess Theatre in December last year, starring Tony Robinson as the narrator, marked the Royal Opera House’s first commercial transfer.

Full casting for the Vaudeville run will be announced soon.

A new musical version of The Wind in the Willows, featuring a book by Downton Abbey writer Julian Fellowes and music and lyrics by Stiles and Drewe, is due to hit the West End in 2015.
