Rehearsal Pics: Cast of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time prepare for return

Pictures released of Graham Butler, who plays Christopher, and cast rehearsing for the play based on Mark Haddon’s award-winning novel

After cancelling performances at the Apollo Theatre following the ceiling collapse, the National Theatre’s production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time returns to the West End with a new company at the Gielgud Theatre.

Simon Stephens’ adaption of Mark Haddon’s novel is directed for the stage by Marianne Elliott. The cast comprises Graham Butler as Christopher who is joined by Vivienne Acheampong (No. 40/Punk Girl), Daniel Casey (Roger Shears), Emily Joyce (Judy), Abram Rooney (Alternate Christopher), Gay Soper (Mrs Alexander), Paul Stocker (Mr Thompson), Nicolas Tennant (Ed), Tony Turner (Reverend Peters), Victoria Willing (Mrs Shears), Sarah Woodward (Siobhan) and Sam Bond, Penelope McGhie, Roxanne Palmer and Mark Rawlings.

Christopher, fifteen years old, stands besides Mrs Shears’ dead dog. It has been speared with a garden fork, it is seven minutes after midnight and Christopher is under suspicion. He records each fact in a book he is writing to solve the mystery of who murdered Wellington. He has an extraordinary brain, and is exceptional at maths while ill-equipped to interpret everyday life. He has never ventured alone beyond the end of his road, he detests being touched and distrusts strangers. But his detective work, forbidden by his father, takes him on a frightening journey that upturns his world.

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time will preview from 24 June 2014, with press night on 8 July, and is currently booking to 14 February 2015.
