Iris Theatre’s summer season of open air theatre in the heart of Covent Garden opens with Julius Caesar, running until 26 July. Here the company give us five reasons to go

1. Unique central London venue
This summer, the acclaimed Iris Theatre returns to St. Paul’s Church, Covent Garden. The audience will follow the action through the intimate gardens and buildings of this historic 17th century church.

2. Get involved!
Iris’ promenade production will have members of the audience dancing in the Lupercalian festival, standing judgement in the senate and maybe even striking against Caesar with the conspirators.

3. It’s action-packed
You’ll be up close and personal for some awesome movement and fight sequences, such as Marc Anthony and Casca’s knife fight and Caesar’s bloody downfall in the senate!

4. Stimulate your senses
On setting foot inside the grounds, you’ll be transported to a dystopian military state, where the action is driven forward by a contemporary soundscape and featuring music from Leftfield, Pendulum and The Smiths.

5. It’s Shakespeare’s greatest political thriller
The Republic stands on a knife edge. Through the fog of war a charismatic leader emerges; but Caesar’s strength is a threat to democracy itself. Brother will turn on brother, freedom fighters will become terrorists, and blood will be spilled.
