Cast: Marc Wootton joins Nick Payne’s Deep Water, RSC’s digital Dreaming
Joining the previously announced Daniel Mays, Nigel Lindsay, Monica Dolan, Peter Forbes and Joanna Griffin in the cast are Isabella Laughland and Marc Wootton.
Isabella Laughland (playing Isabella) was nominated for Outstanding Newcomer at the 2010 Evening Standard Awards for her role in Wanderlust at the Royal Court. Other theatre credits include Greenland and The Last of the Haussmanns at the National Theatre. Television credits include Black Mirror (Channel 4), Without You (ITV) and The Inbetweeners (Channel 4). She played Leanne in the Harry Potter films.
Marc Wootton (playing Kevin Needleman) is an award-winning comic actor whose previous theatre credits include A Midsummer Night’s Dream (RSC) and Season’s Greetings (National Theatre). His film credits include Nativity and Nativity 2 opposite Martin Freeman, Arthur Christmas and Confetti. He has starred in numerous television shows including Way to Go, Gavin & Stacey, Nighty Night and The 11 O’Clock Show.
Writer Nick Payne became the youngest ever winner of the Evening Standard Award for Best New Play for Constellations. John Crowley returns to the Donmar to direct.
The play is set in the offices of “Luton’s finest personal injury lawyers”. When Kevin, Andrew’s high school nemesis, appears in his office the opportunity for a quick win arises. But just how fast does a lie have to spin before it gets out of control?
Casting has also been announced for the Royal Shakespeare Company’s one-off digital theatre project Midsummer Night’s Dreaming, which takes place live in Stratford-upon-Avon and online over the Midsummer weekend, 21 – 24 June 2013.
Staged in collaboration with Google, the entire play will be performed unaltered over three days by a group of returning RSC actors directed by the company’s new RSC artistic director, Gregory Doran, who will rehearse for one week leading up to the weekend.
RSC Associate Artist Joe Dixon returns in the role of Bottom, which he played in Doran’s 2008 production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Also reprising their roles from this production are Peter de Jersey as Oberon, Ricky Champ as Snout, Jim Hooper as Starveling and Mark Hadfield as Puck. Reprising his role from Doran’s 2005 A Midsummer Night’s Dream is Paul Chahidi as Quince. From Nancy Meckler’s 2011 production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream are Lucy Briggs-Owen as Helena and Felix Hayes as Snug.
Joining them are Alex Gilbreath as Titania, Anneika Rose as Hermia, Mark Quartley as Lysander, Chris Lew Kum Hoi as Flute and Simon Manyonda as Demetrius.
During the rehearsal week starting on 17 June audiences will be provided with opportunities to follow the project online and gain an insight into its development through a series of ‘Google Hangouts’. Audiences will be able to talk to the actors whilst they are in rehearsals with the ‘Actors Diary Room’ and at 7pm every day there will be a discussion with members of the project creative team.
