A conceptual musical about infamous former Philippine first lady Imelda Marcos will reportedly reopen the Dorfman Theatre – formerly the Cottesloe – at the National Theatre in October.

The show, Here Lies Love, premiered in New York last year and is written by former chart-topper Fatboy Slim and Talking Heads' David Byrne.

Director Alex Timbers told the Hollywood Reporter: "The New York production will stay here, and we’ll do it in a separate production in the fall. We’ll reopen one of the National’s spaces. It used to be called the Cottesloe, and it’s going to be called the Dorfman now."

Here Lies Love is billed as a "thrillingly immersive show" and "360-degree multimedia spectacle", which follows the journey of Marcos from her meteoric rise to power to her descent into infamy and the People Power Revolution.

A National Theatre spokesperson told WhatsOnStage: "Talks are progressing but we have nothing to confirm at this stage."

As previously reported, next year the Dorfman will host the premiere of new plays by Tom Stoppard and Sam Holcroft.
