Paula's Story opens at ChickenShed

Paula's Story, based on the moving story of Chickenshed's writer in residence Paula Rees, debuts at the Chickenshed this week.

Set in the late 1970s and 1980s, the play centres on Rees, who was born with cerebral palsy, and her family's "fight for their daughter's talent to be recognised".

According to press material, Paula's Story "takes us on an incredibly journey of love, courage and commitment in the belief that every human being has the right to be nurtured."

Paula Rees said: "Chickenshed have performed the story of my life several times – and it is my interpretations mixed with theirs that makes me want others to look at my life and say what they see. Watching my story performed by very committed people who believe in it, is the most moving experience and one which I feel privileged to have – everyone should have it."
