We caught up with the cast and creative of In the Heights, opening 15 May 2014 at the Southwark Playhouse.



The show, which features music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda and a book by Quiara Alegría Hudes, is billed as "an exhilarating journey into Washington Heights, one of Manhattan's most vibrant communities". It won the 2008 Tony Award for Best Musical and was nominated for the 2009 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

The ensemble cast features Victoria Hamilton-Barritt as Daniela, David Bedella as Kevin, Nathan Amzi as Piragua Guy, Josie Benson as Camilla, Damian Buhagiar as Sonny, Emma Kingston as Vanessa, Jonny Labey as Graffitti Pete, Sam Mackay as Usnavi, Christina Modestou as Nina, Sarah Naudi as Carla, Eve Polycarpou as Abuela and Wayne Robinson as Benny. The cast also includes Courtney-Mae Briggs, Reiss Hinds, Holly James and Dex Lee.

The Southwark production is directed by Luke Sheppard (Jet Set Go!), with choreography by Drew McOnie (Drunk) and musical supervision is by Tom Deering.
