1st Night Photos: Young stars of Another Country toast West End transfer

Jeremy Herrin's acclaimed revival of Another Country opened to press in the West End last night (3 April 2014), starring Rob Callender and Will Attenborough as two rebellious public schoolboys.

When the original production transferred to the West End in 1982 it helped launch the careers of Rupert Everett, Kenneth Branagh, Daniel Day Lewis and Colin Firth. In 1984 it was adapted for the screen, starring Everett and Firth as Bennett and Judd.

No doubt its new young stars will be hoping the play can propel them to similar heights.

Attenborough – son of theatre director Michael and grandson of film legend Richard – told WhatsOnStage recently: "With Edward Snowden in the news, controversial legislation on homosexuality in Russia, debates on political class and public schools still very much alive, [the play] adds to and enlivens any discussion about what it means to be included in society, and why somebody might turn away from theirs."

Another Country is booking at Trafalgar Studios until 21 June 2014. It will be followed by Jamie Lloyd's production of Richard III starring Martin Freeman in the title role.
