Carousel revived at Arcola this summer

Produced by Morphic Graffiti, ”Carousel” opens in June

A "bold new interpretation" of Rodgers and Hammerstein's Carousel will play at the Arcola Theatre this summer.

The musical is a romantic fantasy from both Heaven and Earth, tracking the tragic New England love story of fast-talking carousel barker Billy Bigelow and naïve mill worker Julie Jordan.

The score includes "If I Loved You", "June Is Bustin' Out All Over" and the iconic anthem "You'll Never Walk Alone".

The Arcola revival, which runs from 23 June 19 July 2014 (previews from 18 June), is produced by Morphic Graffiti, with 'creative consultancy' by Kim Poster.

It will be directed by Luke Fredericks (Jekyll and Hyde, Union) with choreography by Lee Proud (Hairspray, Leicester Curve), set and costume design by Stewart Charlesworth and lighting design by Catherine Webb.

Musical arrangements and orchestrations are by Mark Cumberland, with musical supervision by Larry Blank and musical direction by Andrew Corcoran.

Casting is to be announced.
