The renowned German troupe, led by its founder Pina Bausch until her sudden death last June, appears late in the Festival on 27, 28 and 29 August. The piece was made during a residency in Brazil in 2001, and celebrates the country’s rich cultural and natural mix from its beaches to its rain forests.
Dance at this year’s Edinburgh Festival also includes two works by the New Zealand based Samoan choreographer Lemi Ponifasio (15-15 & 17-18 August), the Brazilian troupe Grupo Corpo (20-23 August), the San Franciscan Alonzo King and his Lines Ballet (26-29 August), and the distinguished flamenco guitarist Paco Pena (2-4 September).
