There's someone knocking on the door for tea, but be careful for this time there's an unexpected guest...

The Tiger Who Came to Tea is returning to the West End later this year, having last appeared in 2012.

David Wood adapts and directs the show, which is based on Judith Kerr's children's book, and runs at the Lyric Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue from 2 July to 7 September 2014.

Wood is known for being one of the country's leading writers and directors of children's plays and musicals, with other adaptations including: Spot's Birthday Party, The BFG, The Witches, George's Marvellous Medicine, and Goodnight Mister Tom (Olivier winner for Best Entertainment and Family).

The Tiger Who Came to Tea, which was first published over 40 years ago, sees Sophie and her mum welcome a surprising ‘guest of honour' to their afternoon tea.

The show is suitable for children ages three and older. Casting has not yet been announced.
