Full casting has been announced for Ivo van Hove's new production of A View From the Bridge, opening at The Young Vic this April.

Mark Strong (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Zero Dark Thirty) will play Eddie Carbone, the tragic hero of Miller’s waterfront drama with Nicola Walker (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, Last Tango in Halifax) as his wife Beatrice. Michael Gould plays Alfieri in a cast that also includes Emun Elliott (Marco), Phoebe Fox (Catherine), Richard Hansell (Louis), Luke Norris (Rodolpho) and Jonah Russell (First Officer).

The play is directed by Ivo van Hove, director of Holland based theatre company Toneelgroep, whose adaptation of Ingmar Bergman’s Scenes from a Marriage played the Barbican last year.

Due to demand, the run has already been extended to 7 June 2014.

In further news from the south London venue, the WhatsOnStage Award-nominated play The Events will return to the Young Vic in July 2014 for a strictly limited run.

The critically acclaimed piece by playwright David Greig and director Ramin Gray – co-produced with the Actors Touring Company (ATC) – returns after a sold-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe and Young Vic in 2013.
