Helena Blackman and Sam Attwater arrive in Liverpool in February with the touring version of the American musical Seven Brides for Seven Brothers later this year.

The story centres on Adam (Attwater), the eldest of seven brothers living in the mountains, who goes into town to convince Milly (Blackman) to marry him. Unbeknownst to her, she has to live with his six rowdy brothers and soon she takes it upon herself to transform his siblings into real gentlemen. In time, the brother’s loneliness and jealously at Adam and Milly’s relationship result in desperate attempts to get wives of their own, but their methods are hardly the romantic vision portrayed by the eldest sibling.

Helena Blackman's stage credits include Gypsy Rose Lee in Gypsy (Wales Millennium Centre), Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz (Leicester Haymarket Theatre), Nellie Forbush in South Pacific (UK Tour), Gertie in Noel & Gertie (Cockpit) and The Secret Garden (West Yorkshire Playhouse).

Attwater’s stage credits include Dreamboats and Petticoats (West End), Tonight’s the Night (Victoria Palace Theatre) and The Rocky Horror Picture Show (UK Tour), while his TV credits include Hollyoaks and EastEnders.

The show is directed and choreographed by Broadway’s Patti Colombo, who previously directed the show in America, receiving a Connecticut Critics Circle Award for Best Choreography and The Elliot Norton Award. She had previously directed National Tours of both Doctor Dolittle and Suessical- The Musical.

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers opens at the Liverpool Empire from 24 February – 1 March.
