This is Carnival of the Animals but not as we know it. Dissected for body part potential to create the ultimate animal, Lempen Puppet Theatre Company take inspiration from the music by Camille Saint-Sa?ns, a little help from Darwin and a whole lot of cardboard to mash up a show full of puppet possibility.
Internationally acclaimed musician Guo Yue and his writer wife Clare Farrow collaborated to write a Little Leap Forward, a gentle, lyrical story about friendship and freedom inspired by Yue's own childhood during the Chinese Cultural Revolution. Based on their book, Clare and Yue have created a magical hour-long performance that uses a captivating blend of readings, artefacts and live music to tell how Yue grew up in the alleys and courtyards of Beijing. The show is about the power and beauty of words, music, imagination and individual creativity and brings to life a segment of the history of modern China. But collecting berries is hard work, and Billy finds it much easier to 'borrow' from his friends. As a result, New Year doesn't turn out quite how he expected...
