Jason Donovan to star in Million Dollar Quartet

Former Neighbours star Jason Donovan has been cast as record producer Sam Phillips in the upcoming UK tour of Million Dollar Quartet.

Actor-cum-popstar Donovan has theatre credits including The Rocky Horror Show, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Priscilla Queen of the Desert.

Further casting includes Martin Kaye as Jerry Lee Lewis, Robbie Durham as Johnny Cash, Ross William Wild as Elvis Presley, Matt Wycliffe as Carl Perkins and Katie Ray as Dyanne.

The Tony Award-winning musical tells the true story of the famed recording session when Phillips brought together the musical icons Cash, Perkins, Lewis and Presley, and includes hit songs such as "Blue Suede Shoes", "Hound Dog" and "Great Balls of Fire".

The tour opens at the Curve Theatre in Leicester on 14 September and tours to Sheffield, Nottingham, Malvern, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Leeds, Glasgow, Southampton and finished in Bristol on 3 December.
