Cast announced for tour of Matilda

Find out who will be playing the adult cast in the RSC’s production

The Royal Shakespeare Company has announced the adult cast for the UK and Ireland tour of Matilda.

The show, which embarks on a tour in March next year, will feature Craige Els in the role of Miss Trunchbull – a part he played in the West End for three years – Carly Thoms as Miss Honey, Sebastien Torkia as Mr Wormwood and Rebecca Thornhill as Mrs Wormwood.

The rest of the adult cast are Joe Atkinson, Peter Bindloss, Oliver Bingham, Emily Bull, Matthew Caputo, Samara Casteallo, Matt Gillett, Michelle Chantelle Hopewell, Sam Lathwood, Steffan Lloyd-Evans, Charlie Martin, Anu Ogunmefun, Taylor Walker, Adam Vaughan and Dawn Williams. The child cast are yet to be announced.

The tour of Tim Minchin and Dennis Kelly's award-winning show will begin at Leicester Curve on 5 March 2018 before heading to Dublin, Sunderland, Milton Keynes, Birmingham, Manchester and Cardiff. Further dates will be announced in due course. The West End production continues to play at the Cambridge Theatre.

Matilda the Musical is Minchin's and Kelly's adaptation of Roald Dahl's classic children's book about an extraordinary young girl who is surrounded by horrible adults. The show originally opened at the Courtyard Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon in 2010, before opening in the West End in 2011. The show opened on Broadway in 2013 and has won seven Olivier Awards and five Tony Awards.

Matilda the Musical runs at Leicester Curve from 5 March and then tours the UK and Ireland. The show is currently booking at the Cambridge Theatre in London until 27 May 2018.
