Chester Tuffnut isn't your ordinary treemole, in fact he is one of kind! Chester likes wearing jumpers and sitting in his armchair, but most of all he loves adventure - digging holes, reading books, making friends, climbing trees and being outdoors! The woodland is home to lots of rare animals, but it's been so long since these curious creatures have had any fun or excitement, they've forgotten what to do. Luckily Chester is at hand to save his new woodland friends from boredom and bring happiness and laughter back to the forest. This is a story about discovering new places, making friends and inspiring everyone to have at least one adventure a day. Join Chester and a brave bunch of woodland creatures this summer for an action-packed escapade of highs, lows, thrills, spills, near misses and great escapes
The Bogeyman, Baba Yaga and Gollum! Just a few of the mythical monsters and crazy creatures who inhabit our stories and haunt our dreams. But where do they really come from? Are they all bad? And who's brave enough to catch them?
Come and see The Dukes Playmakers as they attempt to compile the first ever 'Monsters Register'.
Long ago when all the world was wood the most fearsome foe was the one that breathed fire... The makers of Chicken Licken and Terry Jones Fairy Tales bring the story of Tom Thumb to life in an exciting adventure for 4-9 year old children and their families. The very first folk story ever printed in English in 1621 mixes a legend set in the times of King Arthur with Celtic folklore. This epic tale of the smallest hero in the world is told with superb puppetry, music and fantastic design. This tale is always told in times of great change, when we know the world our children will live in is going to be very different. Celebrating nature, with sensory play and participation, children are encouraged to explore their local natural environments, with music to sing along to and stepping-stones to follow Tom Thumb's adventure after the show.
Climb aboard the Hispaniola this summer for the adventure of a lifetime. Meet Jem Hawkins, a woman with a plan - to escape her troubles, travel the world and make a new life for herself. The problem is - she's picked the wrong crew: an opinionated parrot, a bunch of pirate buffoons and the terrifying Long John Silver watch over her every move. Follow Jem's search for treasure as the winding paths and dark woodlands of Williamson Park transform into Treasure Island. Robert Louis Stevenson's classic novel is given a thrilling new twist by the award-winning team behind last year's sell-out production of The Hobbit, which won the 2016 UK Theatre Award for Best Show for Children & Young People. The Dukes are delighted to restage Debbie Oates' tremendously popular 2012 indoor production of Treasure Island, giving it a new life as this walkabout outdoor experience.
This event takes place at Williamson Park Quernmore Road, Lancaster LA1 1UX
