WOS Radio: Edward Seckerson Talks to Opera Holland Park

Date: 17 May 2011

Opera Holland Park (OHP) has gone from being a pleasant summer diversion in one of London's loveliest parks to a series of must-see dates in every opera enthusiast's calendar.

Last year the Sunday Times named OHP the UK's best opera company and this year under the sponsorship of Investec Wealth & Investment they continue to boldly go where richer and more glamorous houses shy from going in staging two real collector's items: Catalani's La Wally - whose hit aria "Ebben? Ne andrò lontano" has haunted us for years on the soundtrack of cult movies like Diva and more recently Tom Ford's A Single Man - and Mascagni's delectably surprising L'amico Fritz.

In this exclusive audio podcast Edward Seckerson talks to the dynamic duo at the helm of OHP - general manager Michael Volpe and artistic director James Clutton - about where they are, where they are headed, and most importantly how their passion for the genre and their quest to unearth and "look after" exciting new talent has turned around their fortunes and made OHP a prime location to seek and find the opera stars - and audiences - of tomorrow.
