WOS TV: Up Close With ... Anthems' Brian May
Date: 18 April 2011

Following the success of their album Anthems Queen guitarist Brian May and We Will Rock You, Les Miserables, Wicked and Oliver! star Kerry Ellis will bring their acclaimed collaboration to the Royal Albert Hall for a one-night engagement Anthems: The Concert on 1 May 2011 in aid of Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.

The pair will be supported on the night by the London Philharmonic Orchestra, the Anthems ensemble and the 60-strong West End Chorus and Dancers. Adam Pascal, who created the role of Roger Davis in Rent on Broadway as well as appearing in Aida and Chess in Concert will also star, and there will be further support in the form of all-girl electric string quartet, Britain's Got Talent finalists, Escala.

Joseph Pike talks to Brian May about the Anthems project, the upcoming concert at the Royal Albert Hall and Queen musical We Will Rock You - winner of the 2011 Audience Award at the Oliviers.

Anthems: The Concert is produced and directed by Hugh Wooldridge who has presented projects such as The Night of 1000 Voices and Chess In Concert at the Royal Albert Hall for the past 11 years.

Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research is the only UK charity solely dedicated to research into blood cancers, including leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma. These cancers are diagnosed in around 28,500 children, teenagers and adults in the UK every year. The charity needs to raise £120 million in the next five years to continue their life-saving research.
