Five Reasons to See ... The InTransit Festival

InTransit is a unique outdoor arts festival, transforming the streets, parks and public places of Kensington and Chelsea into a "riotous feast of culture" until 1 August.

Programmed by the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea in partnership with London arts organisations - including the Gate Theatre, Serpentine Gallery, and Victoria and Albert Museum - InTransit offers everything from promenade theatre on bikes to dance, opera and artist-led walking tours.

Organiser Rebecca Pelly-Fry gives us five good reasons to go along...

1.Find secret spaces
All the events in the festival programme travel along, around or inside parts of Kensington and Chelsea that you may never have been to before, or even knew existed.

2.Walk through beautiful surroundings
InTransit will lead you on a journey through the beautiful borough of Kensington and Chelsea, with its green open spaces, historical buildings and winding back streets.

3.Have an unexpected experience
Take a journey through Holland Park whilst listening to David Leddy's acclaimed “play without actors”; follow life-sized puppets of Monkey and Bear as they play out their dramatic story along Kensington High Street; watch the story of famous artists unfold as you walk around Chelsea; follow the Living Junk Project as they construct scenes and make music from whatever they find on their journey along Portobello Wall…

4.Be a part of something
We all know at least one thing that no-one else knows… Come and visit a sweet shop like no other: at The Knowledge Emporium, give a little piece of your knowledge to add to the ‘Big Book of Everything That We Know’ in exchange for penny chews and humbugs.

5.Get on your bike!
Take part in a unique promenade performance that combines a BMX chase, bicycle choreography and theatre as you follow the story of Cole, a young father and BMX lover, around the streets and parks of North Kensington.

InTransit runs until 1 August 2010 at various venues in Kensington & Chelsea.
