About Southwark Playhouse

Southwark Playhouse is one of London's leading fringe theatres.  Each year it hosts a programme of innovative in-house work as well as the best work from new and emerging theatre companies from around the UK.  Its mission is to present work that challenges the conventions of traditional theatre practice, with a particular emphasis on interactive performance events.

Alongside its artistic programme, Southwark Playhouse also runs a highly regarded, year-round education programme, providing a number of activities for young people and the local community in Southwark.

starNot a family show despite how its billed a - lots of violence and a view adult references. Horrified to see young children attending. Show meanders on and on and could not wait for it to end. Would not bother seeing it. - Ellen28 Dec 12
starTotal waste of money...the story makes no sense, how it's a family show I'm not quite sure. Over acted performances which make this feel like an armature dramatics show in your local village hall. - Matt28 Dec 12
starDon't go..there is no story, it is impossible to care about the characters...the sets don't look good nor do the costumes...the acting is loud and enthusiastic and completely unsubtle. Awful. - MKitcher24 Dec 12
starstarstarstarEnter into the experience as one of a team of volunteers to work with families, youth or drug rehab and you find yourself caught up in the lives of families living in this cut off area of London. Once the characters are introduced through a short series of interviews that we are witness to we are plunged into the underworld as head off into the vaults and witness site specific scenes in which we are invited to comment and make suggestions. A unique piece of well researched and written interactive theatre. - Dave J15 Apr 10
