Con O’Neill in Exchange’s Bridge

Con O’Neill has been cast as the lead in the Royal Exchange Theatre’s production of Arthur Miller‘s classic A View From A Bridge. The former star of Blood Brothers,Telstar and the stage version of Prick Up Your Ears recently finished performing in Dead Heavy Fantastic at the Everyman in Liverpool.

The plot follows Eddie Carbone, a longshoreman, lives with his wife Beatrice and young orphaned niece Catherine in Red Hook, Brooklyn, New York. Two cousins from Sicily, relatives of Beatrice, come as illegal immigrants to stay in the Carbone’s home and find work on the docks. 

When Catherine is attracted to Rodolpho, Eddie’s life is thrown into turmoil. Viewed as one of Arthur Miller’s masterpieces, the play uncovers the tensions in a tight knit community with its strict codes of behaviour.

The cast also features Anna Francolini, Leila Mimmack, Ronan Raftery and Ian Redford.

A View From A Bridge is directed by Sarah Frankcom and designed by James Cotterill and runs from 18 May – 25 June.
