starstarstarstarExcellent staging and performances. The various Prime Ministers did often slip into caricature but it matters little as this is all about Helen Mirren who gives a stunning performance. - Paul Wallis26 Apr 13
starstarstarstarThe weekly audience between the monarch and the Prime Minister is one of the great strengths of our unwritten constitution as it allows the Queen to use her unique experience to help and advise her government in absolute confidence. Because that secrecy has never been breached it means that any dramatist is essentially guessing. Peter Morgan's play is exceptionally entertaining and superbly acted, directed and designed but I didn't believe a word of it. This is a version of events that Morgan would like to believe is true but the fact that the Queen attended Thatcher's funeral suggests that he is entirely wrong in the pivotal scene, despite some obvious re-writing. The portrayal of Churchill feels particularly inaccurate and although Richard McCabe is brilliant as Harold Wilson it bears no resemblance to the public face I remember and he would surely never have indulged in jokes about the Royal Family's German origins. Helen Mirren is quite superb as the Queen, quick changing across the years, but the best scenes by far are those with her younger self which try to offer a glimpse of the human being behind this extraordinary public figure. The Audience is a superb piece of theatre but should not be regarded as a chronicle of British history. - David Baxter25 Apr 13
starstarstarstarstarCould not fault any of the performances, Richard McCabe and Helen Mirren absolutely fabulous, as were all the other PM's and everyone really - costume changes were incredible as well! - Laurence Belcher02 Apr 13
starstarstarstarstarEXQUISITE LIGHT DESIGN AND CLEVER COSTUME CHANGES. EXCEPTIONAL DIRECTION BY STEPHEN DALDRY AND ONCE AGAIN MARVELLOUS PERFORMANCE BY HELEN MIRREN AND THE WHOLE CAST... WOW!!!! - N. Johnson06 Mar 13
starstarstarstarstarAmazing production. Great cast and again Hellen Mirren unselfishly shares the stage with these people talents. A MUST for Broadway!!! - m06 Mar 13
starstarstarstarstarWas enthralled. Such clever costume changes kept the play seamless. I saw Robert Hardy's last performance and look forward to seeing Edward Fox in June. It was so enjoyable. I'm going twice. Mirren's ability to change the age of the Queen by subtle body movements and speech was remarkable! - AnnieC06 Mar 13
starstarstarstarstarBrilliant, funny and beautifully staged production. The sets, the wardrobe changes and the performances are all amazing. Helen Mirren is simply immense. Grateful I got to see Robert Hardy as Churchill. - cbrooks01 Mar 13
starstarstarstarstarAmazing performances all round! The David Cameron scene is,obviously being tweaked as there was reference in there to the resignation of the pope.. Brilliantly designed. Excellent executed scene and wig changes. I predict an Olivier award for best actress and a broadway transfer! - Pmc23067517 Feb 13
starstarstarstarstarStunning - tour de force performance by Helen Mirren. Engaging, witty, slightly emotional. Scene and costume changes were really impressive. The young lady who portrayed Princess Elizabeth was awesome. - John Anderson17 Feb 13
