Record breaking sales for Playhouse panto

Date: 3 October 2012

The panto fever is certainly building at Whitley Bay Playhouse, record breaking sales are reported for the next Blue Genie Panto, Cinderella

Managing Director, Gary Telfer told us: “The sales this year are phenomenal! We are already almost 70% up on last year’s record-breaking sales and it looks like we are going to have another great year. The feedback we have been getting from last year’s pantomime, Aladdin has been great and this year we are going to take the production to a whole new level.”

There will be 30 action packed performances of Cinderella at the PLAYHOUSE from the 18 December 2012 – 6 January 2013. Featuring a host of top quality professional performers including Hollyoaks Beauty and Dancing on Ice Contestant, Jennifer Metcalfe alongside heartthrob and Any Dream Will Do runner-up, Keith Jack as Prince Charming and local comic Steve Walls as Buttons, returning for his third consecutive year thanks to public demand.

Whatsonstage.com Northeast caught up with Suzanne Fellows , who is playing the Fairy in this years production. Suzanne lives in Sunderland and has spent many years touring the country in large-scale musicals. She is also working as a dresser on the current tour of Oliver! while it plays at the Theatre Royal as well as teaching. We asked her about the benefits of working in Whitely Bay for Christmas. “It’s great to be working so near home and now the second Tyne Tunnel is open there is an easy commute”. She continued to tell us ”I have not seen the script as yet, but know my first song and all the cast get along very well. I am really looking forward to the pantomime”.

Director Rob Forknall said: “It’s going to be great fun for all the family! Cinderella is the most magical pantomime of them all and ever since Disney sprinkled their magic touch on the story, it’s become a firm favourite with young and old alike.”

Blue Genie Entertainment are spending tens of thousands of pounds to ensure Cinderella will be a spectacular family production, bringing together a top cast, amazing costumes, fantastic dance routines, plenty of popular song to please all ages and they boast the most amazing transformation sequence ever staged including real Shetland ponies.
