starstarstarstarstarI have been coming to see this play every year at Regents Park for about the last 17 years, and this year was by far the most memorable (and not just for its recency!) A refreshing, modern spin on the Shakespeare classic. I loved Titania - plagued and harrowed, also the role of Hypolita. Helena was hilarious and the players were also worthy of belly hugging guffaws! A disturbing interpretation lined with pure comedy. I want to go and see it again! - Hollie Roberts04 Aug 12
starstarstarstarstarWatching this evening, I gasped at some of the set changes and loved the darker aspects, yet it was a still so funny! Thoughtfully done. - Amanda 03 Aug 12
starstarstarstarstarI know this play so well, and was surprised to find myself challenged and viewing it afresh, in this violent and quite disturbing production. The magic and comedy are here but the dark undertones have been drawn out and the dream verges on nightmare. Love is abusive and angry, and cruel men rule both worlds. The set and costumes are stunning but there are no gimmicks. The text holds up to this high-concept production which has been thought through down to its details. The ending is moving in an unexpectedly poignant way. My companion was new to the play and was captivated by it. It left me feeling disturbed, thoughtful and with a slightly bitter aftertaste. Highly recommended. - S Thompson21 Jul 12
