starstarstarstarstarThe spirit of A Midsummer Night's Dream remained intact and the multi-talented cast brought the show to life. I didn't go expecting to see anything other than what the show billed itself as - a complete reworking of the text, rather than just an updated presentation of it. There are plenty of opportunities to see this particular play in a more traditional production, but for a Monday night, some comic relief and truly engaging theatre in the round, this worked exceptionally well. - Luke Moore10 Aug 12
starstarstarEntertainment and quirkiness that I would expect at the Edinburgh Festival and more inspired by the original than an adaptation. Disappointing from the Royal Exchange where I have enjoyed depth and quality for 20+ years. Tickets pricey too ! - Cheshire Cat05 Aug 12
starstarstarEntertaining but a complete mess artistically. I find it patronising that Shakespeare's own text can't be left to speak for itself to us nowadays. I don't expect Shakespeare in doublet and hose but I don't need a stand-up comic (albeit a very funny one) to make it accesible. - Mark Warrington01 Aug 12
starUnfunny, embarrasingly silly, and a waste of good actors' talents. The worst Exchange production I've seen for years. - John Archer28 Jul 12
