Blue/Orange Changes Manchester tour dates

Date: 1 November 2012

Robert Bathurst is currently starring in Joe Penhall's Blue/Orange, which began it's national tour at the Theatre Royal Brighton. The production stops at Manchester later this month. It was originally planned to open here on 20 November. It will now begin at the Manchester Opera House on 22 November.

Penhall's Olivier Award-winning drama premiered at the National Theatre in 2000, starring Bill Nighy, Andrew Lincoln and Chiwetel Ejiofor. The comedy centres around the relationship between two psychiatrists and their patient. Gerard McCarthy and Oliver Wilson star alongside Bathurst.

This new production is directed by Christopher Luscombe, artistic director at the Theatre Royal, whose production of The Madness of King George III ran in the West End earlier this year. It is produced by Theatre Royal Brighton Productions, a partnership between Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG) and Theatre Royal Brighton formed in 2011.

Bathurst is best known for his appearances in the television dramas Cold Feet, Downton Abbey and Wild at Heart. Recent theatre roles have included Charles Condomine in the Noel Coward comedy Blithe Spirit (Theatre Royal Bath and West End) and the eponymous Alex in the live stage version of the Daily Telegraph cartoon.

Blue/Orange arrives in Manchester at the Opera House, from 22 to 24 November.
