This is my 5th Time I have seen it, my first time being in the West End.
I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed the show, the cast were superb. The new lighting design for the show is really impressive, the Starlight express sequence really brings the stage to life, where the stage is let up by hundreds of stars that seem to appear from no where. Granted this show is not as good as it was in the west end, but people need to get over the fact that the west end days are gone, and it is not possible to tour and erect a huge track like the west end. The new arrangement of the songs really brings the show up to date, and I actually really like the new song "I Do" that replaced next time you fall in love. Although that was one of my favorite songs, the new song is a good replacement. I left the show wanting to see it again, so if you want a night of good fun, then this show is definitely for you. Starlight express has always been the victim of theatre snobs knocking it, but this is the longest running musical ever, and the fact that it is still pulling in crowds speaks for itself. - Stephen Joyce | 21 Jun 12 |
