The only thing missing the mark here is the reporter. Must be out of touch. Was a great light hearted performance and never professed to be anything different. Would love to see it again. Learn to laugh Craig. - john

My girlfriend and I thought it was a great show, we went during the day,the last day of the show and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Any members of the cast or crew reading this...you were all great and anyone who didn't enjoy themselves are clearly from another planet - thanks for a great day - Ray Hardy

For me Theatre is entertainment and that is certainly what I experienced tonight. The storyline was very simple but hey does it need to be complex? I certainly was not alone in the audience tonight enjoying the music, songs , dance and humor. I am certainly glad I did not miss this one. - Caroline

started slow but after 10 mins i felt it got going.its hard to find stuff people havnt already said.I thought the singing was great, yes not the best but this isnt a massive production. Also i dont think the dancers got enough credit-the whjole cast tried really hard and I can imagine this show going well in London - jeannette

Wasn't as rubbish as your review implies, however, no Lloyd Webber production. There were some fun bits but I didn't like the way the audience were addressed, rather than the actors. Dont think I would see it twice, as I have lots of other perfomancies, but was worth the £10 we paid. Give it a whirl, it will probably improve with age. - JoyceWilkinson

Absolute and utter rubbish. I've never had a more un-enjoyable night out at a show in my life. - antony

entertaining and light hearted. It was all very daft and some shocking props - what was that bat all about? excellent singing (esp Caroline Deverill) awful dinging (Dr Acula - but that was expected. Completely inconsistent accents - transylvanian scouse american and cockney. bizarre but enjoyable!!! - Dan

I agree it was very silly. The plot had some huge holes and there was some mad stage direction. All it wanted to be was 'Rocky Horror Picture Show' but was simply never going to be that cool. However, the music as good, the cast gave it their all, and it was an entertaining, if slight daft, night out. - Sara

This show is excellent! I loved it from start to finish and so did all the people sitting (or should I say, dancing!) around me. Mr Hepworth clearly lacks a sense of humour or the understanding that this musical is supposed to be tongue-in-cheek. Its stylalised direction worked really well and the choreography, custumes and performances were fantastic! This is a light-hearted family musical, similar to the Rocky Horrow Show or Return to the Forbidden Planet. If you're looking for a great night out, with lots of laughs and music to boop along to, then go see Vampirette! I've booked to go and see it again next week! - Belinda

A wonderful night!! The show had me laughing through out I regular visit the theatre and have watched all the classic shows, yes this was very different, brilliantly so! A special mention to Adam Booth who's 'Eloise' performance was outstanding he moved around the stage at speed, while singing and didn't miss a note. I loved the flying bats, very funny as were the one liners. Mr Hepworth completely missed the very funny point! Going again on Thursday. - T royle

If anything 'misses the mark' it's the above review. The singing and dancing was excellent. It started slowly but turned out to be a very enjoyable show. - scoobylou

Fantastic night out. This is not meant to be a serious show, its tongue in cheek along the lines of Rocky Horror. I fail to understand why the moaning reviewers went in the first place. First Class Show, going again Wednesday. - Andrew Nichols

I have to echo the comment above, what a horrid review! Seems like you set out to hate the show before it started. Yes it wasn't a great show, the plot wasn't much to shout about, and had a few holes, but its hardly the first musical that you can say that about. The creators clearly set out to produce a fun campy entertaining family orientated show and i would say they did that very successfully. Their tongue was clearly very much in their cheek, and I really appreciated the fun they poked at musical / theatre conventions. The beginning of total eclipse got the biggest laugh of the night, and it was definitely intentional. The only really bum note for me was the long forshadowing / build up to the song 'Eloise', but that was no worse than the treatment of 'Maria' in Desperately Seeking Susan for example. I couldn't see the show in the west end but i reckon it could do ok on tour, particularly if it focussed on family audiences. - Simon

My teenage daughter and I had a really good time. Yes, it wasn't particularly complicated, but it made me laugh, and the whole cast really entertained me (and I know my teenage daughter loved the young male dancers) I heard lots of people saying how much they had enjoyed it.....and I loved the good sing song and dance at the end!! - Paula

A cracking new breath of fresh air in a musical comedy. This is one of those shows that acknowledges the camp-ness (esp. end of Act 1 which was very well executed!) - manages to retain a great storyline with FAB acting/singing from the Vampi family. A special mention for the ensemble, the three Vampettes were brilliantly in sync, the ensemble also during Act 2 were very strong and their facial expressions could be seen from the back of the stalls. Go to watch this with an open mind. It is a great piece of theatre which has been developed in the previews, and I was very much so impressed as I was the first time around I saw it. Bravo! - James

How can a show like this get comments like this? For a professional show this was just plain lazy, it's all very well saying it was a bit of fun but it still needs to have some sense of theatre.
There are loads of lower budget shows that put so much more effort in and entertain much more than this.
I can only assume those that liked this don't get to the theatre often, as anything was better than this. - Scott

What a horrid review! I thought the show was great. A really good laugh, so apparently did the people next to me, who sang along during the finale. You seem to have totally missed the point? I laughed at the beginning of Total Eclipse of the Heart because it was incredibly funny! As was most of the show. A good night out. - Dave

The whole night was horrible, right down to the pointless red carpet outside. Terrible show, good cast and I rather liked the band. Also I don't think the critic missed the point at all as he clearly mentions he enjoys the camp musicals, but that act 1 wrap up with the flying did look awful, and the streamers even worse. - Carl

Well I thought it was great fun, and I heard lots of people saying the same during and after, I think you rather missed the point of the comedy performances for example during Total Eclipse of The Heart, it was meant to be camp and funny. And as for the direction, I thought that was very refreshing and very different, and it worked - Lee
