starstarstarstarstarSuperb show - one of the best i've seen at the Greenwich Playhouse. Myself and my husband see most of the Galleon shows, but this is our first Sell a Door show and we will be coming back for many more - Angie30 Nov 10
starstarstarstarReally enjoyed the production. Cast was great and bought a soundtrack on my way out the music was that good. Im coming back with the girls from work on 4th December. - Pat Cooley19 Nov 10
starstarstarstarstarI saw Dracula last night at the Greenwich Playhouse and thought the production was excellent. The script was sometimes too wordy, but what the young cast did with it was amazing considering the limitations of the space and an obviously limited budget. The direction was slick, and the design was appropriate. I've performed in a theatre above a pub before, and sometimes if you over design a small space the set becomes the characters, and the action gets lost. I disagree with James that the 'two curtains and period props' were not effective - any further complications in the set and props would have led to a long, drawn out play rather than a slick, smooth production which it was. - Aileen17 Nov 10
starstarstarstarI thoroughly enjoyed this production. I admit, at some times the actors were over the top, but I can see how this is very difficult in such a small space as the Greenwich Playhouse. I have seen every Sell a Door show at Greenwich since they started doing shows there last year and I always enjoy their plays. - Rupert15 Nov 10
starI saw this production and whilst I though that the production wasn't well directed I thought there were some very talented actors involved particularly Dracula and Lucy. I found this adaptation very difficult to watch and I guess it must have been much harder to direct. I feel that Liz Lockhead was more interested in making the novel fit with her own agenda. I think she missed the point that Dracula is really an adventure story (interestingly she cut 2 major male characters and added several maids-increasing the first half of the story so it became tedious and boring and squeezing all the action into the final half hour, by which point I wanted to go home) Although the points about repressed victorian society, women and sex are extremely valid I felt she could have kept it subtle instead of ramming home the point at every possible opportunity. The audience is not stupid we get it. - Rachel15 Nov 10
starSorry Laura, did you see the same play. Some of the worst, over the top acting I've ever had the misfortune to see. "well staged" a mismatch of period props and costumes and two curtains do not make good staging! - James14 Nov 10
