Former pop star Boy George nipped backstage to meet new Mamma Mia! cast members Sally Ann Triplett and Niamh Perry yesterday (15 June 2009), following the new company's final dress rehearsal at the Prince of Wales theatre, where they posed for pictures with our Whatsonstage.com photographer Dan Wooller.
The new cast take over from tonight (16 June 2009), led by Whatsonstage.com Award winner Triplett, who returns to the role of Donna Sheridan, and I'd Do Anything finalist Niamh Perry as her onstage daughter Sophie Sheridan (See News, 27 May 2009).
Boy George knows a thing or two about musical theatre himself having written the music and lyrics for 2002 hit musical Taboo (in which he also starred).
Mamma Mia! musical, which recently celebrated its tenth year in the West End (See Photos, 7 Apr 2009), is currently booking at the Prince of Wales through to 27 March 2010. Other members of the cast include: Jane Gurnett (Tanya), Paul Ryan (Harry Bright), Oliver Hembrough (Sky), Jodie Read, Laura Selwood, Ben Heathcote and Sam McKay.
