starstarstarstarstari completely disagree with the miserable two stars that represent this play at present. Having gone with a group of people aged between 19yrs and 6yrs, i must say all of them loved it! i go to the christmas play every year at the young vic and i must say this was one of the best. The costumes were lovely mixture of the grotesque and the sumptuous. I found the characterisation comically playing to stereotpes that i feel worked well with the young children. To the adults, the actors were believable in there characters and i didn't feel they 'over did it'. There were a good mixture of adult jokes and humour for the children. Depite some of the images such as 'Queenie' prepearing to eat the baby were frightening, good always prevailed and therefore only heightened the tension. Overall i thought it was visually brilliant, aurally exciting, and it gave me a few good laughs. a play that has just one of these elements deserves nmore than two stars! - USER: Whatsonstage.com (217.134.140.77)08 Dec 02

starstarstarstarstarThis is a great play, not really a panto. My older kids loved it, but my four year old was quite scared by some parts. However, was a real treat! - USER: Whatsonstage.com (62.49.186.66)04 Dec 02
