 | I want to say this right out, i am an avid theatre goer and i LOVE the films....which meant that i was sure to love the musical but i didnt. It was mostly well acted but you couldnt hear a thing the sound mix was awful. They have re arranged the songs and put them in a slightly different order so the kids couldnt sing a long which is what most of them wanted to do. They manipulated the story...which again is different from the film. The extra songs are lovely and you can see exactly where they fit in and they work. The set was stunning and the dances were good. For me it had changed too much from the film and not in a good way. The films were such a huge phenomenon....and i understand that you wouldnt want it to be a carbon copy but personally i feel it has gone to far in the opposite direction. - Jane | 14 Jul 08 |
