Dralion (The Royal Albert Hall, Inner London)

starWhen seats in the gods are going for £27 and programmes for £9 (yes, £9), you expect to be rewarded a memorable production. Instead, Dralion is truly underwhelming with occasional flashes of brilliance drowned out in a sea of bland, meaningless music and dance with little cohesion between the overlong sequences. Bizarrely, the irritating clowns become the highlight as they mock the routines of the other performers. Perhaps this is Dralions biggest weakness because our suspicions are confirmed; the uniting, east-west themes are little more than a metaphor for the global, corporate machine Cirque has become. - USER: Whatsonstage.com (195.92.67.208)08 Feb 04

starstarstarstarstarAbsolutely brilliant, not a single moment when I wasn't enthralled by the whole experience. Cirque continue to maintain their highest standards of performance as they have done every other time they've visited the UK. Here's hoping they'll be back next year!! - USER: Whatsonstage.com (80.46.194.10)13 Jan 04
starstarI'm obviously more easily distracted than your reviewer - I thought the performers were completely overpowered by the special effects and ghastly music! - USER: Whatsonstage.com (195.92.168.177)12 Jan 04
