starstarstarstarThe performance did not aspire to be West End and the homespun nature did appeal to the audience e.g children, older folks in particular. So with modest pretentions the event was a success with particular credit to the audience who seemed determined to join in and have a good time. I suppose we should admire Brit Ekland for treading the boards when she is obviously past her best(?) but as a fairy godmother she gave the appearance of a superanuated barby doll. Littlewood looked the part as Buttons but didn't sound it, practically every joke fall flat due to poor projection and delivery. I thought the rest of the cast did very well. Cinderella, Prince Charming and his assistant looked, danced and sounded good. The dancing girls were very pretty and leggy squad and deserve better. To sum up it was fun and affordable for a mite unsophisticated audience so ignoring the performances of the two 'stars' it deserves four magic wands out of five. starIt was hard to believe this was a Professional production. Ekland was uncomfortable & clumsy and Littlewood failed to entertain the kids or get a laugh from the audience, which is Buttons main responsibility! The show included an array of badly chosen songs with terrible band arrangements and never in the right key for the singers. The highlight were the four children from the audience that came on for the songsheet who upstaged everyone. Panto is an extremely difficult artform and corners should never be cut! - Nick Robinson03 Jan 09
starstarstarstarCinderella at The Shaw Theatre made me howl with laughter! It was great to see a traditional panto back in London which didn't depend on massive budgets but good old fashioned fun! I will be going again with my 'office' mates! - Donald Plant10 Dec 08
