| Very dull indeed, and without justification for that dullness. You feel nothing for any of the characters, which is just as well, since nothing happens to any of them. The dog, which you never see, is presumably supposed to be a metaphor for something, but the playwright gives you no reason to care what that might be. It lasts an hour and a half with no interval (lest everyone leaves) and the only way I could keep amused was to run a private sweepstake on which of my buttocks would fall asleep first. If you left Waiting For Godot thinking "If only it had been a bit longer" then this might suit you. Otherwise, you will find it as tedious as counting the hairs on the back of a man's head (something I actually did towards the end of the play for want of stimulus). - USER: Whatsonstage.com (81.174.146.218) | 01 Jun 04 | |
| Very slow and dull story of family tensions at Christmas in a Yorkshire location, that suddenly and bafflingly switches to the Canary Islands and just as suddenly abandons its long-scene structure and ends with a run of jump-cuts. All pretty uninspiring, and I wish I hadn't bothered. BACKDRIFTER - USER: Whatsonstage.com (195.74.155.58) | 25 May 04 |
