| Good cast but the play now seems very tame, even laboured. I thought it was worth seeing, but only just! - 81.79.129.213) | 30 Jul 05 | |
| Joe Orton's black farce is nowhere near as shocking now as it would have been when first seen in the 60s. Nonetheless, David Grindley's deft and entertaining production exquisitely recreates the period (great design by Jonathan Fensom), and boasts terrific performances from Malcolm Sinclair, Belinda Lang and Jonathan Coy. I found the performances of the younger actors, Joanna Page and Geoff Breton, to be rather uncertain in tone, as though they weren't clear whether they were playing for real or doing send-up's of their roles. Still, it's fun to see this modern classic again. And wouldn't be surprised if it ends up back in the West End. - 195.82.123.181) | 26 Jul 05 |
